As of 2024, a majority of Cincinnatus Insurance clients have Grange Insurance as their carrier. Not Flo, not Doug and the LIMU Emu. Who is Grange Insurance? And why so do many clients have a carrier most have never heard of?
Grange Insurance At A Glance
With over 700,000 clients across 13 states, Grange Insurance has been serving customers for over 80 years. Grange Insurance was founded by an Ohio farmer named John Haaf, who in 1930, noticed his auto premium increased from $10 to $12 for his six month policy. Haaf took action on his idea of offering low-cost auto insurance with other members of his agriculture-based group. Thus, Grange was born, and was first ran out of a house in Columbus, Ohio. Grange’s headquarters remains in Columbus to this day.
Why Grange?
One of our favorite things about Grange is their strength and stability of a large insurance carrier but with the local, personalized service of a small company. As advisors, we often need to call into the Grange Service Center to ask a question or assist a client. 57% of Grange’s work force works from home, and often their home is also Ohio.
Where’s Grange’s Mascot?
Spending almost $0 on marketing, this can leave the public wondering “Who is Grange Insurance?” Grange focuses its efforts on training their staff and working with independent insurance agents instead of flashy marketing campaigns. Their focus on quality insurance products and reliable client support has paid off. By 2013, Grange reached $1 billion in surplus, reinforcing the company’s financial strength and stability. In 2018, Grange has honed its focus solely to Property & Casualty insurance business.
